Red clover is considered a strong alterative for the skin and nervous system.  Alteratives help the body function correctly.  It also has antispasmodic, nervine, and expectorant actions.

Red clover is commonly used to help hormonal imbalances during menopause, helping to reduce hot flashes and other symptoms.  As an expectorant, it helps to soothe coughs and bronchitis.  Being a light nervine, it may help to with insomnia.  Topically, red clover has been used to soothe skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis.  There are some drug interactions associated with taking red clover internally, including blood thinners, oral contraceptives, and others.

Dosing for red clover is suggested as 1-3 tsp three times a day.

Harvest red clover flowers and attached leaves when the blooms are full and healthy.  Dehydrate for tea or topical oil infusion.
